“Slowly is the fastest way to get where you want to be” is hand painted on the doorway sign of P.Leone’s Lucia of Avenue X Pizzeria in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. It’s a quote from artist André De Shields that has stuck with label manager Marco Gomez since he last stepped out of the shop to return to Berlin this past year. This quote ultimately captures the mood that Gomez has devised for his new EP “City Flowers” as Junior M(achine). Inspired by house music dance floors in both cities, Gomez has set out to translate nightlife’s emotional ups, downs, and somber post-club walks home - which often transpire in bright daylight. Indeed, the artist has slowly but surely been walking in this direction for a while.

“Barbara” takes a direct sample of the infamous Barbara Walters & Mariah Carey interview for a jackin’ House track destined for big room events. “Pleasing You” pulls back emotionally, utilizing classic House and Latin Freestyle instrumentation to lay down a slower burning yet effervescent nightcap. “City Flowers” is less a direct "club track" and more a faded memory of one, taking production inspiration from the short lived chillwave era of the early 2010’s. The EP’s conclusion brings us back to the dancefloor yet again, with a fresh, mesmerizing Italo Wave remix of “Barbara” from head boss of Slow Motion Music/Wrong Era Records, Fabrizio Mammarella.
